This semester I’ve been lucky enough to teach a creative nonfiction class while my Fairfield University colleague Sonya Huber is on sabbatical. Sonya is a beloved presence on campus and I felt like I was asking quite a lot for her students to trust me with their writing after the care and attention many of them have received from her in past classes.
One of the ways I’ve tried to channel Sonya and her philosophy of teaching is by consulting some of the excellent craft advice she offers in her newsletter and her books.
